The day started with a visit to Rydal Mount, the house where the poet William Wordsworth lived from 1813 to his death in 1850.

We then visited Hill Top which was the house and garden of Beatrix Potter, where she created Peter Rabbit and friends.

We then went the the Claife Viewing Station on the western shore of Lake Windermere.

From here we had our daily adventure when the bus wouldn't start. (out of fuel). We hitched a ride back to the local village near Hilltop for lunch and awaited our bus. We didn't know what the problem was at that stage. The bus turned up after lunch and we headed off th catch our ferry ride across Lake Windemere. We made it in a nick of time along with every other tourist in the Lake District it seemed.

After our boat ride we returned to our hotel and vegged out before dinner. The weather wasn't conducive to do much else.
