The next morning we left Edinburgh for Liverpool. The train trip was pleasant except for changing trains at Preston. The lifts weren't working so we had to cart our cases up the stairs to crossover to the platform where the Liverpool Train left from. It wouldn't have been that bad but we had a limited time and there were a lot of people. But a nice young lady helped the grey haired gent struggling with 2 cases to the platform.

We arrived at Liverpool and were met by our "best man" Wayne who we hadn't seen for about 35 years. He moved to Liverpool with his first wife and he has settled down with his current partner, Lorraine.

We had dinner with them at our hotel and then settled in for a quiet evening.

The next day we met Lorraine's mother and her daughter and grandson. We then journeyed out to the village of Hale where there is a statue of John Middleton a "Child of Hale" who was about 9 feet tall. (pretty tall for the 17th Century). We enjoyed a nice counter lunch at the local pub.

Afterwards we returned to our hotel and had a quiet evening. (Travel Fatigue perhaps

)
