The next morning Wayne and Lorraine picked us up and we headed into the Liverpool city after a slight delay as Wayne had to get a new tyre for his car.
We waited at the local shops that had an interesting statue of an elephant in a Viking longship (go figure). We then headed in to town on the local train and did the "Ferry Across the Mersey" thing, which gave us a good outlook of the city. We had a hurried lunch and look around the old docks area before we joined our pre arranged "Beatles Fab Four Taxi Tour". We were taken around in a cab called "Lovely Rita" by a driver called Steve, who knew his stuff.
It was interesting to note that we seemed to be stalked by the "Magical Mystery Tour" bus, which appeared to drive by sites with a quick stop for a look out the bus window then on to the next place. Steve took us to lots of places , the registry office where John Lennon married his first wife, all of the Beatles childhood home sites, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields etc etc. It was a most enjoyable and interesting afternoon.
Afterwards we wnt back to the hotel for dinner and to pack as we were leaving the next morning.
