After disembarking from the cruise we spent a couple of days in London looking around before we started on our Backroads "Highlights of Britain" tour.
The first morning off the ship we checked into our hotel in Paddington then went for a a walk through Kensington Gardens, past the Albert Memorial and the Albert Hall and visited the Victoria and Albert Museum. It was a most interesting Museum although I really think the people who put the direction signage up in the museum must have been on mind altering substances, given nothing seemed to point us in the right direction.
The next day we walked through Hyde Park to Harrods. Harrods is a magnificent shop, the food hall looked inviting. We had lunch there (which wasn't cheap) and then walked down past Buckingham Palace, across the Thames to the London Eye, which gives great views over the city. Then we walked back to out hotel. We covered a few kilometres that day for sure.
The next day we visited the British Museum, we took the tube. We also visited the Liberty Store which was interesting and different. That evening we made out first English Pub visit for dinner. Dare I say it I enjoyed the experience very much.
