In the morning we bade Wayne and Lorraine farewell at our hotel and took a taxi to the main Liverpool railway station to catch our train to London.
In London we made our way to St Pancras Station to catch the Eurostar to Brussels. The reason we we going to Brussels was to connect with a train to Dusseldorf to meet Marie Therese, Uta's penfriend of 50 plus years. The way the train timetable worked meant we had an overnight in Brussels. Brussels turned out to be a nice place and we ended up wishing we had planned to stay a bit longer. C'est la vie as the French say.
I was kinda looking forward to the Eurostar ride under the English Channel but the train was so comfortable I fell asleep. Anyway we arrived in Brussels and we had the evening for a quick walk around to find a nice place for dinner. Actually Brussels (where we were anyway) reminded me of a laid back Paris. The shopping arcade we found had heaps of chocolate shops, as well as some rather nice specialty shops.
At dinner Uta enjoyed her Cherry beer while I enjoyed a nice dark Belgian beer.
